Unlocked Art

Unlocked Art is a project launched in 2021 by Taunton Mencap to give a voice to people with learning disabilities, who largely dropped out of sight to keep them safe during the Covid pandemic.

With funding from Somerset Community Foundation, specialist teacher Peter Blaker from Starfish and creative therapist Becky Shaw from Wistaway ran a series of activities that led to the creation of a virtual gallery. Some twenty-five schools, residential homes, day care centres and individuals contributed their artwork.
